A Summer Day In Amsterdam!
Have you ever wondered what to do on a hot summer day when you are not on vacation? I mean, you can go out and explore your hometown, you can stay at home and enjoy the day on the patio or garden (if you are lucky enough to have one of those). What about a pretty little day trip to another city. What about a trip to Amsterdam?

Staycation: How to create that summer feeling!
As I live in Düsseldorf, I have several options. The city itself has a lot to offer, including several festivals or events during the entire year, like the French Festival, Japan Day, the biggest pleasure fair the river Rhine, and a lot more.
Other possibilities are trips into the surrounding areas, like neighbor city Cologne, Duisburg, Oberhausen. Or discover nature and history in the Neander Valley.
Or you visit one of Germany´s neighbor countries like the Netherlands. Amsterdam is perfect for a city trip, the north coast for having a beach day, or Roermond at the German border for a shopping day.
Things To Do in Amsterdam
I decided to visit Amsterdam*. It was not difficult, as some friends of mine asked me for a spontaneous day trip. Although it is only a three hours car ride, I have not been there very often. Just half a day when I was waiting for the train to go back home after a mini cruise to Newcastle and back to Amsterdam a few years ago. It was fun but not enough time to explore the city.
The goal for this day was to enjoy life and go with the city flow. We had no plans or specific sightseeing wishes except a boat tour through the canals.
Therefore, this post will not tell you where you should go, although there are a few sights which you should consider to visit when you have some time left. Like the house and museum of Anne Frank, the Rembrandt museum*, and a lot more. I only have a few pictures which hopefully makes you want to visit and explore by yourself.
If you like to visit some of Amsterdam´s attractions, museums or take a sightseeing tour, consider the Amsterdam Pass*! You will save a bunch of money on entrance fees!
Watch and enjoy! And do not forget to leave me a comment! Tell me your ideas for a daytrip or if you would visit Amsterdam as well!
